DESCRIPTION

Discovered in the Cotswold’s this very rare car mascot in the form of a Kewpie Doll dates from the 1920’s (possibly earlier) and was probably made in the USA.  Kewpie Dolls were created by the New York writer and illustrator Rose O’Neill who said the idea for them came to her in a dream.  They first appeared as a cartoon strip in Ladies Home Journal in December 1909 and were later made as dolls from bisque porcelain and plastic.  This mascot is made from cast aluminium and sits on a wooden ebonized display stand.
