DESCRIPTION
A fine quality English brass compound microscope signed to the base ‘C. W. Dixey Optician to the Queen, New Bond St. London’. It has a heavy lead filled base, triangular rack and pinion focusing and a sprung stage. It comes with numerous accessories including stage forceps, lens condenser/illuminator, slides and a live box; all in the original, fitted French polished mahogany case with key.
Now C. W. Dixey & Son, the company is still family owned and is the world’s oldest independent eyewear company. Established in 1777 it has served seven successive Kings and Queens of England and examples of their work are held in the collection of the Science Museum. The motto on their coat of arms is Vide Verum: ‘See the Truth’.

Overall in very good condition and still in working order. It does have some wear, scratches and tarnishing consistent with its age - please look very closely at the pictures as they form part of the description.
