DESCRIPTION
A cast metal (probably bronze) and painted Benin Leopard head sculpture.
Benin City; the historical capitol of the Kingdom of Benin is now within the Federal Republic of Nigeria, West Africa. Bronze leopard heads were worn as hip or waist ornaments by chiefs of all ranks and the king wore one made from ivory. Original Benin bronzes are extremely rare and this one; hand sculpted and cast using the lost wax process, dates from the mid-20th century and was made to be sold.

CONDITION
There is some minor paint loss but overall it is in very good condition - please look very closely at the pictures as they form part of the description.
