DESCRIPTION
A large argenta vase with oxidized green glaze and decorated with a female figure standing among trails of seaweed applied in sterling silver. Designed by Wilhelm Kåge for the ceramic’s maker Gustavsberg, Sweden and dating from the 1940’s or 1950’s.
Wilhelm Kåge (1889-1960) was a well respected designer of ceramics and worked as the artistic leader for Gustavsberg in the 1930’s and 1940’s. His work is held in the collections of some of the most prestigious museums in the world including the V & A and British Museum.
